Today, there is a non-invasive facelift procedure that can create a more youthful look. This is thanks to advancements in surgeries and cosmetic procedures.

Beauty experts, dermatologists, and cosmetic surgeons have been raving about Ultherapy®. The science behind this seemingly miraculous procedure can be difficult to visualize or even comprehend. However, the information below should help you make an informed choice.

What Is Ultherapy?

This is a non-invasive, FDA-approved procedure that lifts the brow, chin, and neck. It also improves the appearance of wrinkles and lines on the upper chest. This procedure uses ultrasound imaging to deliver energy precisely to the area where it will benefit the patient most. It is an ideal treatment option for patients looking for natural-looking results that will improve over time.

How It Works

This cosmetic procedure relies on ultrasound technology to penetrate deeper for collagen stimulation. It uses traditional ultrasound imaging so practitioners can see the layers of tissue they are treating. This ensures the delivery of the focused ultrasound energy to the target areas where it benefits the patient most.

The Ultherapy provider aims the heat energy from the applicator at different depths to affect three layers:

  • Superficial wrinkles.

  • Skin.

  • Muscle.

Ultherapy Procedure

The procedure aims to stimulate elastic tissue and collagen. This should result in fewer wrinkles, less sagging, and firmer skin. A laser technician or physician will clean the target area to get rid of any residue or oil. They will then apply an ultrasound gel before placing the Ultherapy device against the skin.

Using an ultrasound viewer, the provider will adjust the device to the right settings. They will then deliver focused ultrasound energy to the treatment area. During treatment, patients might experience some tingling and intermittent feelings of heat.

Pain medication can help address any discomfort. The provider will then remove the applicator at the end of the procedure. Depending on the treatment required, this cosmetic procedure can last up to one-and-a-half hours. Ultherapy treatment in the neck and face areas can take anywhere from 60 to 90 minutes. Treatment on the chest area can take 30 minutes.

Side Effects

Any sensations of tingling and heat you experience should subside after the procedure. Sometimes, the skin on the treatment area can appear red or flushed in the hours following the procedure.

You may also experience short-term sensations such as tenderness, swelling, and tingling. Numbness and bruising may occur on rare occasions. However, these side effects usually disappear within a few days.

What to Expect After the Procedure

Usually, Ultherapy does not involve any downtime. Hence, you can immediately resume regular activities such as socializing, exercising, and working. You should start noticing the first positive results within a few days.

However, this will depend on your body’s ability to generate new collagen. These improvements usually continue for about three months. If your body continues to create new collagen, the results will last until the natural aging process starts to take over again.
