Urinary incontinence, also known as loss of bladder control, is a common problem amongst men and women. Research shows that at least half of older women are affected by incontinence. Incontinence can be incredibly embarrassing, striking at work, while you exercise, or during a social event.
Loss of bladder control can also occur in women who have experienced stress in the muscles around the bladder from weight gain, pregnancies, vaginal childbirths, or even sports injuries. In these situations, it is not uncommon for women to have bladder leakage when coughing, laughing, or lifting something heavy.
